What about making it interesting?
You know, I am having a master this period of time, and I meet people that are considered experts in their fields daily. I feel very lucky about it and I appreciate it. And I consider myself as a person that wants to learn things and of course, I am the best groupie ever! I am the person that will look deep into your eyes, listen to what you say with great interest, like I found my soulmate, make you feel very important. But I need you to make it really interesting if you want me to truly listen and not just do what I always do out of kindness or good manners.
And there are some people, successful people, with great knowledge and awesome background, who can share excellent experience and information with others. And yet, you see that they do not make you buy in what they have done. You feel bored. You find no reasons to admire those people. When you should see the reasons. People have talents. Some people have the talent to make the most interesting things look like the most boring ones. And yes, there are sometimes that you listen to so boring lectures-talks-presentations that you feel like putting a pencil into your eye, just to make the day a bit interesting. Why do people that have achieved so much in their lives are not enthusiastic enough about their achievements or themselves so that they can persuade others about the importance of their work?
So, how do we teach people to become interesting? Can people be generally interesting, meaning, being interesting for different audiences? Can we learn how to present interestingly the things we want to communicate? And also, what are the factors that make someone or something interesting? Can we find someone interesting for a specific period of time and then find the same someone boring or neutral? What is it that changes the circumstances? Just the person that presents or the receiver as well?
And if the receiver pays an important role, how can we be trained to be receivers of interesting information? Pfff, that journey never ends. I will end it myself.
Just sharing some thoughts... Admit it, they are interesting! :P
