"Passengers"
I really liked this movie, so many thoughts, so many pictures created in my head. So many real life examples.
Yes, it is a space story. A space love story. But it has, if you ask me, such an interesting human side that makes me applaud even by thinking about it. Yes yes I liked it.
So the story is that we are in a space craft that travels to a different planet far far away, and there are people that are in a sleep mode in this craft that will reside the new planet. They have "paid" different tickets and they are supposed to wake up many many years later, but three months before the landing on the new planet.
And yes, something goes wrong and one person wakes up many many years prior to the date. That happened because of a system failure. In the beginning, that person goes around and tries to find the other people that are awake and will be co-residents to this new life. Not that much time later, he realizes that he is the only one awake. Thankfully he is an engineer, so he opens up all the available manuals and tries to search and send himself back to sleep.
This does not look very possible. So, after months of eating the same breakfast and being alone with no other company but a robot that serves him alcohol, he starts to spend time around the other passengers. He finds a very interesting girl. He believes that they would be perfect together by the things she likes and the way she looks.
He really things back and forth, he fights with himself and he has a lot of inner dialogues, he even discusses with his robot bartender friend. "Should I wake her up or should I not?"
He decides to wake her up... And not tell her. So, she will not know that he sacrificed her life for his own...
Of course, the movie would not respect itself and the viewer if there were no more malfunctions to the spacecraft.
I really liked it.
Please watch it. P.S. I do not like space movies in general, but this one I liked a lot.
